🌑 The Nightmare Diaries: A Visit to Nocturne, the City That Never Wakes Not every dream wants you to stay asleep.

I first found Nocturne on a night when the moon looked slightly wrong.

You know the kind.

Too large. Too pale. Hanging outside the window like it had been waiting for you to notice.

Just before I fell asleep, I heard three quiet knocks from inside my closet.

Then a voice whispered:

“Last train to Nocturne leaves when the clock forgets the time.”

Naturally, I did what any sensible person would do.

I pulled the blanket over my head.

Unfortunately, the train arrived anyway.

🌘 Welcome to Nocturne

Nocturne is a city built from unfinished nightmares.

It sits somewhere beneath the dreaming world, where forgotten fears collect like dust beneath a bed.

The streets stretch farther whenever you look away. Buildings lean toward one another as though sharing secrets. Windows glow even when nobody lives inside.

There are no street signs.

Only arrows.

And somehow, every arrow points behind you.

✶ What to Do in the City of Nightmares

🪞 Visit the Hall of Almost-Familiar Faces

A gallery filled with portraits of people you’re certain you’ve met before.

Your old teacher.

A childhood friend.

Someone you passed once in a supermarket.

The strange part?

None of them have names.

And every time you walk past a portrait twice, it looks a little more like you.

🚪 Explore the Corridor of Endless Doors

Hundreds of doors line a hallway that seems to stretch forever.

Some lead to bedrooms you remember.

Some lead to places you’ve never been.

One door opens onto your own bedroom.

Do not enter that one.

Especially if you can already see yourself sleeping inside.

☕ Stop by the Sleepless Café

Nocturne’s only café is open from midnight until midnight.

The menu changes whenever you blink.

You can order things like:

A cup of forgotten thoughts Yesterday’s rain Cold cocoa with too many marshmallows A memory you almost remembered

The waiter will always ask:

“The usual?”

Even if you’ve never been there before.

🕰 Visit the Clocktower

The clocktower stands at the center of Nocturne, although nobody remembers walking toward it.

Its clock has thirteen numbers.

Every hour, the bell rings once.

Except at 3:17.

At 3:17, the entire city becomes completely silent.

Even your footsteps stop making noise.

Nobody in Nocturne will tell you why.

🛏 Where to Sleep

You probably shouldn’t.

But if you absolutely must, there is a hotel called The Last Light.

Every room contains:

One bed One candle One locked window And a small handwritten note that says:

“If you hear footsteps in the hallway, they are probably yours.”

The word “probably” is underlined twice.

🎒 What to Pack

A flashlight A watch that still works Something that reminds you of home A pocket full of courage And one very important rule:

Never follow your own footsteps.

Especially when they appear in front of you.

A Note for First-Time Visitors

Nocturne behaves differently for everyone.

Some travelers see abandoned cities.

Others wander through endless schools, empty shopping malls, forests, staircases, or houses where every room feels strangely familiar.

The city builds itself from the little fears your mind keeps hidden during the day.

But Nocturne has one secret.

Every nightmare has an exit.

Sometimes it’s a door.

Sometimes it’s a light.

Sometimes it’s simply realizing:

“This is only a dream.”

And when you finally wake up, your bedroom will look exactly as you left it.

Probably.

Just don’t worry about the muddy footprints beside your bed.

Until next nightmare, 🌙 Your fellow midnight traveler
